GIVE-AWAY!!!!!!

In appreciation of my first sale on Simply Primitives, I am offering a give-away.  Meet Alice.  And no, she is not named after the dreadful child who plays croquet with flamingos.   She is named for a friend of mine who has a special fondness toward these well-poised birds.  Alice comes on a painted papier mache box.  She is made from paperclay and sports pink feathers.   Due to her extremely delicate nature, (she is balancing on 1 leg after all), she is not intended for children…. Or croquet.

I am practically out of vacation at my “real” job, so I am going to live vicariously through you.   All you have to do to enter for your chance to will Alice is to leave a comment describing your favorite vacation activity or destination.   Maybe you travel, maybe you like to spend your time off in your garden…maybe, if you are like me, you spend your vacation waiting for various “service” people to show up during a predetermined yet undisclosed window of time.  Whatever you do on your time off, let me know.

If you don’t know how to leave a comment, do not fear… You can email me your comment and I will post it for you.   Also…. If you sign up for my e-newsletter, you will get a second entry.   We will draw a name on the 6th of June and announce the winner.  You can enter your email in the comment and I will contact you… or if you are the mysterious type who prefers nobody knows how to contact them ( I totally understand),  I will post the winner's name and if that name belongs to you, you can email me back and claim your prize.

  1. My favorite vacation/activity: Just being home and having the ability to run an errand, make a hair appointment, or just hang around the house all day. : ) Not that our annual trips to a major league baseball park aren't fun...I do truly love doing anything with my son. However, "vacation" to me means having nothing that I HAVE to do... : )

  2. My favorite vacation is the same one I had as a child. Santa Fe! My grandmother lived just north of Santa Fe so we spend our summers there. There is nothing like a New Mexico sunset but my very favorite thing is wandering around the square admiring the handiworks of the different tribes. You can see the differences in the tribes by their works. I hold my treasures I buy each time I go close to my heart. they are always special. My heart feels renewed when returning my favorite vacation. Check it out sometime..hope you will love, too!! Janet Ledford

  3. One of my favorite vacations is an unexpected snow day.  You don't know you are going to have it so you can't plan a bunch of chores to complete - you can't go anywhere so you aren't out running all those errands that are forever needing to be done.  It is almost like you are forced to lay around resting and watching old movies all day.  Plus you get the added benefit of wearing the traditional "snowed in" outfit which consist of a pair of old sweatpants and a shabby old t-shirt.  And come on now, I know everyone has that same outfit.   Sandra

  4. My best summer vacation was when I was 9 years old. I had no worries and life was great. I would walk over to my grandparents house at night and would play with my two uncles who were a little older than I. We would lay in the yard on our backs and watch the stars or catch lightning bugs and put them in a jar. Some evenings we would go over to the neighbor's pond and swim. Other evenings we would catch frogs and fry them over our campfire that we would build in the ditch by the side of the dirt road. That was the best food I have ever eaten. The neighbor boys would come down some nights and we would play war using a stick with green persimmons stuck on the end of it. You would swing the stick and the persimmon would fly off and hit your enemy. When it hit you it really did hurt. We did something like this every night because we had no t.v. or video games. We didn't have snacks between meals and there were no overweight kids in our neighborhood because we were always busy playing. No one thought they were better than anyone else and we all played together and had a good time. It is sad that we all have to grow up and see things change. Leland
